Terra Beta 2

Headline

Terra 0.2 adds tools, drops, and the frozen ocean. This version also fixes some problems in the previous beta such as: the ui, no highlights on tiles, and the absence of the world boarder.

New UI

The previous UI didn't match the style of the game, and felt out of place. This is the 2nd iteration of the UI system and hopefully it'll stand the test of time. It includes a new mini-map, improved title screen, and larger menu.

Title screen

The previous title screen didn't make since, and it was clunky. First off the background didn't even render, leaving a blank eye stabbing white background. The title also didn't match the text, and the blue buttons caused it all to feel disorganized. This new title screen hopes to fix this problem. Everything is placed to the left side of the screen to add a since of balance amongst the islands in the background. The new world menu is also moved to a special section to allow for expansion.

The new pause screen also combats the same problems in the previous version, the blue on blue made it seem weird. This new design also allows for more expansion with room for new buttons.

The Frozen Ocean

The frozen ocean is the gap between the snow forest and regular ocean. It spawns with ice placed randomly around, you can then use an axe to collect the ice and place it elsewhere.

New Tools & World Boarder

In a top down world its hard to decide which layer to break, tools help make this decision. Any tile can have a custom requirement, but the majority, except for ice, will stay the same. Any tile with collision requires an axe, any base tile requires the shovel, and any flora that doesn't have collision requires the scythe (I spelled this wrong in-game).

The world also features a new stylish boarder. I haven't been able to find anyways to allow for infinite worlds, so  a boarder will do. In the future I want to add some sort of ocean to prevent it from looking so jarring.
